Acupuncture for Fertility 

Acupuncture has a long and successful history in reproductive medicine and is an excellent holistic therapy to help couples on their journey to parenthood, whether they are beginning to prepare, need help during pregnancy or would appreciate support with western fertility treatments.

Unfortunately for some couples it is not so straightforward to achieve their dreams of having a family, due to various problems with either the male or female. Acupuncture helps boost fertility, relieve any stress or anxiety and correct any underlying conditions.

Woman suffering with irregular cycles, hormonal imbalances and conditions such as polycystic ovaries and endometriosis all benefit from having acupuncture. Not only does treatment alleviate symptoms in the long term it also treats conditions leaving the woman problem free. It can help with male fertility issues too, such as sperm production and motility.

Acupuncture creates a five star hotel for a baby to grow in by working alongside fertility treatments, such as IUI, IVF and ICSI, as well as supporting the couple emotionally along the way. Many studies have proven that acupuncture during assisted fertility protocols increases the chances of success.

‘My husband and I had been trying for a baby for three years and we were on the waiting list for IUI treatment when a friend asked if we had considered acupuncture and told us about The Bridge Centre for Natural Health. We contacted them initially over email. Katy Henry replied to our enquiry quickly and offered advice which enabled us to make appointments for an initial series of consultants. Having a phobia of needles didn’t help, but on the first appointment the process of acupuncture was fully explained and the worry of needles was quickly put to one side.

The Acupuncture was a complete success, and we now have an adorable 5 month old baby boy to show for it. We didn’t need to return to the Fertility Clinic at Derby Hospital for the IUI treatment following a natural conception after the acupuncture treatment.
