Did you know there are over 300 acupuncture points on your body?

So many.......

How do we decide which points we need to use during your treatment? well, all acupuncturists need to have a deep desire to know and understand their patients really well, and here is why.

In five element acupuncture, the acupuncturist will diagnose the element: Fire, Earth, Metal, Water, Wood, which they feel needs particular support and is preventing you from feeling as fit and well as you might. Treatment on 'your' element can have a profound effect on your sense of well-being without specific ailment being targeted.

In addition to this, every acupuncture point has a 'spirit' to it, or a 'quality' if you like. Names like Abdomen Sorrow, Gate of Hope, Amidst Glory, Broken Bowl, give us an image of the gift the point brings. The more at ease and comfortable you feel with your acupuncturist, the more they will 'get' you, and be enabled to choose the acupuncture points they feel are right for you on that day. This is why the points used will almost certainly differ at each treatment. Also, patients presenting with the same condition may not receive the same acupuncture points. Acupuncture is certainly NOT a one size fits all treatment.

It is often a surprise to our patients to know that we are as interested in your mental and emotional health as we are about your physical health, and all are considered when we decide which points we want to use in your treatment.
