Weight Management with Solution Focused Hypnotherapist – Kate Henry
Permanently on a diet?
A repeat offender at the weekly weigh ins?
Have you ever thought of approaching your weight management journey from a different direction?
Hypnotherapy may be able to help you get to the root of your current eating practices and offer support on changing those negative food habits.
In this short blog by Solution Focused Hypnotherapist; Kate Henry, Kate looks at how hypnotherapy could offer you the support you need to make a long-term change.
Solution-focused hypnotherapy is a type of therapy that focuses on solutions rather than problems. It is based on the idea that people have the resources they need to solve their problems, and the therapist’s role is to help the individual access those resources. In the context of weight management, solution-focused hypnotherapy helps individuals change their negative thoughts and behaviours related to eating and weight by focusing on their desired outcome, rather than their current situation.
Studies have shown that solution-focused hypnotherapy can be effective in helping individuals manage their weight. One study published in the International Journal of Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis found that solution-focused hypnotherapy helped participants reduce their body mass index (BMI) by an average of 5.1% over a six-month period. This study also found that solution-focused hypnotherapy was more effective than traditional weight loss methods in helping individuals maintain their weight loss over a long-term period.
Another study published in the International Journal of Obesity found that solution-focused hypnotherapy was effective in helping individuals lose weight and maintain weight loss over a two-year period. This study found that solution-focused hypnotherapy was more effective in helping individuals lose weight and maintain weight loss than other weight loss interventions, such as dietary changes and exercise.
It is believed that solution-focused hypnotherapy is effective in helping individuals manage their weight because it addresses the underlying psychological factors that contribute to overeating and weight gain. For example, many individuals turn to food as a way to cope with stress, anxiety, and other negative emotions. Solution-focused hypnotherapy can help individuals identify these triggers and develop healthier coping mechanisms.
