A is for Acupuncture

Acupuncture is one of the most popular treatments at The Bridge Centre - and for good reason!

Built on ancient principles, this holistic therapy system centres around the belief that your well-being (be that physical or emotional) is dependent on the amount and quality of energy (Qi) flowing through the body. The placement of fine needles at Acupuncture Points helps to release energy blockages to encourage clear energy flow.

What can Acupuncture help with?

The list is endless! From fertility to migraines, anxiety to injuries and everything in-between, there are so many ways in which Acupuncture may be beneficial. If you’re struggling and would like to find out if Acupuncture may be able to help you can contact us to arrange a free, no obligation chat with one of our Acupuncturists, they will be able to advise you based on the specific issue you’re seeking support with.

Does Acupuncture hurt?

The acupuncture needles really are very fine, you might experience a slight ache or a feeling of tingling or pressure when the needle is inserted, or you might not feel anything at all! If it helps put your mind at ease - many patients find Acupuncture very relaxing, and a quick snooze during a treatment is not unheard of!

Can I use Acupuncture alongside Western Healthcare?

Yes! Many of our clients have Acupuncture alongside western medicine, although we do suggest that you make your Acupuncturist aware of any other healthcare you’re receiving and vice versa.

What should I expect at my first appointment?

Your first appointment will be the longest of your treatments. It will involve a chat with your Practitioner so they can gather all the information they need in order to tailor your treatment to you, as well as your first actual Acupuncture session. We recommend wearing loose and comfortable clothing so that your therapist can access the relevant acupuncture points. For certain points you may need to remove shoes and possibly items of clothing - if you are comfortable to do so, but don’t worry- we can offer you something to protect your modesty, or you’re welcome to bring a cosy blanket with you if preferred.

How many acupuncture sessions will I need?

That’s a great question to ask your Acupuncturist during your free consultation. Based on the issue you’re seeking support for the therapist will be able to talk you through how your Acupuncture schedule should ideally look to work towards your preferred treatment outcome. However, the frequency and number of sessions needed will depend on how you respond to treatment.
