A common Acupuncture term, but what is it?

If you’re familiar with Acupuncture, you may have heard the term qi, but what exactly is it? Does everyone have one? And what do you do if yours is out of balance?

Qi is pronounced “chee”, and is an important Acupuncture term and broadly describes the energy, or life force which flows through the body’s meridians. In Acupuncture in order to have balance and harmony within the body, you must have balanced qi.

The body’s meridians are the network of channels which cover the body. The 12 Principal Meridians correspond to specific organs and there are also 8 Extraordinary Meridians. Each meridian is made up of many Acupuncture Points where needles may be placed. Blockages along these pathways may interrupt the flow of qi, resulting in adverse effects physically, emotionally or spiritually.

Acupuncturists will take a full history and talk to you about the issues you’re experiencing to help them determine which Acupuncture Points need to be used in your treatment. The aim of the treatment is to clear any blockages along the meridians which in turn restores uninterrupted flow of qi and helps improve health and wellbeing.

All of our Acupuncturists offer a FREE 30 minute consultation. If you would like to find out more about how Acupuncture may be able to help you contact The Bridge Centre Reception Team on 01332 521 270 or via reception@bridgenaturalhealth.co.uk to arrange a no-obligation chat.
