There are many reasons why we start and continue to smoke…

Your parents /peers did it, so you just followed suit?

You started as a teenager because you thought it was cool?

You’re using it as a crutch to help you with the stresses and strains of everyday life?

You just don’t want to pile on the pounds when you quit.

Whatever your story It’s a real struggle to break away from the draw of nicotine, no matter how
determined you are.

Solution Focused Hypnotherapist – Kate Henry offers support to determined individuals through
hypnosis…

'Smoking is a harmful and addictive habit that can have severe consequences on one's health.
Smoking cessation is a challenging task, and many people struggle to overcome their cravings and
break the cycle of addiction. Fortunately, there are various techniques and approaches that can help
individuals quit smoking, one of which is hypnosis.

Hypnosis is a trance-like state that is characterized by increased suggestibility, relaxation, and
focused attention. The premise of hypnosis for smoking cessation is that it works by helping to re-
programme the subconscious mind, which is where the cravings for nicotine originate.

A meta-analysis of 18 studies found that hypnosis was significantly more effective in helping smoking
cessation in individuals compared to other cessation techniques, such as nicotine replacement
therapy (NRT) or behavioral counseling (Carmody, 2008). In addition, a study published in the
Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology found that hypnosis was more effective than NRT or
behavioral counseling in helping individuals quit smoking for at least six months (Girard, 2008).

Moreover, several studies have demonstrated that hypnosis can help individuals overcome cravings
and withdrawal symptoms, which are common challenges faced by smokers trying to quit. For
example, a study published in the International Journal of Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis found
that hypnosis was effective in reducing cravings and withdrawal symptoms among individuals trying
to quit smoking (Kirsch, 1996).

The effectiveness of hypnosis may vary depending on the individual's level of motivation, their
support network, and other factors that contribute to their ability to quit smoking, however,
research has demonstrated that it can help individuals overcome cravings, withdrawal symptoms,
and improve their chances of quitting smoking for the long-term.'
